Commonly called the Sand Dollar Cactus, Astrophytum asterias is native to Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains of Mexico. Known for its unique patterns and orb-shaped silhouette, this species is endangered in the wild due to poaching. Our specimens are grown from seed in California.
