Once popular during medieval times and in New Orleans, bargeboard is used to fasten gables of a roof to give them strength and to conceal the structural elements of the roof. Most bargeboards are intricately shaped, making them as important aesthetically as they are structurally. We especially love this scalloped version as an accent for shelving.
